How Does It Work?

After Creating An Account, You Are Two Steps Away From Forecasting Your Budget

Create a Forecast

The first step is adding a new forecast or two. You can name these anything you want. An idea would be to name it after the account your budget is for like:

  • Main Checking
  • Main Savings
  • Personal Checking
Step Two

Add Line Items

Choose the Forecast you want to add line items to and add your budgeted numbers. Multiple frequencies such as weekly, 1st and 15th, monthly, etc. are available. There are four categories to choose from:

  • Deposit: Incoming money
  • Fixed cost: Recurring expenses like rent, groceries, etc
  • Misc: Non-recurring expenses like a book, movie, etc
  • Transfer: Money sent to savings, IRAs, etc

FAQs

Who are you?

I'm Brian Emory. I've been a software developer since 2018. I live in the Phoenix area with my two cats Marley and MJ.

Why did you make this?

I had been using the same basic budget spreadsheet since 2010 or so because none of the budget apps offered what I wanted. Even my spreadsheet didn't have everything so I built Forecast Your Budget to fit my needs. Maybe it will fit yours too.

Can I import line items using a CSV?

Importing a CSV is currently not available. With Forecast Your Budget, you only need to enter your numbers one time. Filling out a CSV to import, and ensuring it's correctly formatted, would take as much or more time.

Can I link my bank accounts?

Linking bank accounts is not available. The transactions pulled in from a linked account would cause a conflict with your budgeted numbers. However, you should take time to reconcile your accounts each month and make sure your budgeted numbers and actual numbers match.

Can I see a pic of your cats?

Of course.
